Product Description
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a data-centric, highly-integrated, and enduring-value approach to project delivery and management. For the entire lifecycle of a project – conceptualization through operations and even decommissioning – this methodology, with its associated processes and technologies, has the potential to assist all stakeholders involved in a project, saving time and money and improving the value of the final product. Without standardization of parameters, collections of geometry and information can contain incomplete, inconsistent, or even conflicting information, resulting in great detriment to optimal BIM methodology and high-quality project delivery. This document recommends a standardization of parameters used in luminaire BIM content. The suggestions outlined in this document are intended to remedy synchronization issues between parameters, as well as ensure that lighting professionals are receiving the basic bits of information necessary to fulling their project’s needs, during the many different stages of development.
